We used neutral colored construction paper to cut out symmetrical shapes and glued them together to create a paper mask. White and black tempera paint was used with cotton swabs and cardboard scraps to add stamped repeated pattern on the paper mask.
To create the background paper we created an additive printing plate out of a block of wood, yarn and masking tape. Each student created an interesting design with their yarn piece and then dipped their block into black paint to print a repeated pattern with their printing block.
The African mask was glued to the center of the background paper to finish the piece.
